The Position
What We Do (And Why Your Skills Matter)
Represent isn't your typical video agency. We're the secret weapon behind some of Silicon Valley's most innovative startups, turning their complex tech into videos that genuinely help their users and grow the company.
Every frame you craft will launch products, educate users, and build communities around revolutionary ideas. While other editors pump out generic content and distract from the lack of meaning, you'll be working on videos that are designed to drive meaning and communicate something valuable.
Our clients range from ambitious YC founders racing toward Demo Day to late-stage billion dollar scale-ups.
The Role
You're not just assembling footage. You're the person who sees the story hidden in hours of raw content and brings it to life with motion, color, and sound.
As a video editor, you love storytelling, eye-candy footage, and tech as a whole. You know your tools like the back of your hand. AE? AP? DaVinci? Crazy AI tools? Bring them on!
Now, we are not looking for a person who can just throw things on a timeline in Premier and add some sfx. Our editors are foremost storytellers.
You need to understand the niche, the topic and the viewer to hook people in the beginning and keep them watching until the end.
What We're Looking For In The Ideal Candidate
Your Must-Haves:
- Audience Understanding & Story Vision: You have a deep understanding of your viewer and why they care. You are to find the story within the footage, cut the fat, and build it visually to complement and enhance what the viewer needs to understand or feel.
- Visual Taste That's Undeniable: You know good design when you see it, and more importantly, you can create it
- Understanding of Different Video Formats: You get that a startup launch video, a tutorial, and a lead magnet video each need a different energy.
Tools? We Don't Care - Just Ship Amazing Work: We're tool agnostic. Use whatever gets the job done best. That said, most of our team works with Adobe Suite (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop).
About You:
- Independent But Collaborative: You own your projects but play beautifully with producers and other editors
- Speed Without Compromise: When a founder needs a quick edit for tomorrow's board meeting, you deliver excellence fast
- Adaptable Visual Chameleon: You can match any brand's style while adding your own creative magic
- Story-First Mindset: You understand that flashy effects mean nothing without solid storytelling
Bonus Points If:
- You're fluent in Figma and Notion (our collaboration stack)
- You have sound design and professional color grading
- You understand YouTube formats and what makes content perform
- You've worked with startups before (but we'll teach you the ecosystem if you haven't)
Who's NOT A Fit:
- Editors who need constant direction and millions of comments in reviews (we hire self-starters)
- People who think “exploding stuff on the screen” can fix bad storytelling
- Anyone who doesn't obsess over the details that make videos great
